Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new and exciting school year. The opening of the 2010-2011 year went very smoothly here at May Watts due to the hard work of the dedicated teachers, office staff and parents who contribute to the rich life of our school community.
On Wednesday, September 1, you are invited to visit your child's teacher during Parent Orientation/Curriculum Night. This informational night is designed for parents only to attend. Each classroom teacher will make a presentation regarding the district's curriculum and will provide information specific to his or her classroom.
The following schedule should allow for parents of more than one May Watts student to visit more than one classroom. It also allows grades 3 - 5 parents to visit their child's math teacher who may not necessarily be their regular classroom teacher. The schedule is as follows:
Parent Orientation/Curriculum Night Schedule:
Kindergarten through 2nd grades 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Kindergarten through 5th grades 7:05 - 7:35 p.m.
Grades 3, 4, 5 may visit math teacher 7:40 - 7:50 p.m.
3rd grades through 5th grades 7:55 - 8:25 p.m.
All of our Special and Support Teachers will be available in the LMC or in their rooms for you to visit. Curriculum information, programs, and interventions will be shared. Please be sure to make time in your schedule to visit these important teachers.
Please remember that due to the large number of parents in attendance it is not possible to discuss individual student progress. There will be a sign-up for conferences in November in the multi-purpose room on this night. (As a courtesy, those parents who have more than three students enrolled at Watts will be contacted by the office to set up their conference times.) The staff and I look forward to seeing you on September 1st.
